Hey all! Today we did a lot. We HIPPed docs about Anti-War protests, learned about Black Power and the Black Panthers, and we had a Vietnam War draft. We also had a Socratic Seminar!
Reminders - YOU HAVE A TEST NEXT CLASS! It will include a TIMED long essay. If you would like a hint on the topic, send me a remind text that tells me which US President was involved in the Teapot Dome Scandal. Also, the study session April 13 was moved to Monday April 24!

Today we covered the Truman years. We created a list of social changes (get from a friend) and then we took a mini quiz. If you missed it, come see me to make up. If you don't like your grade, retake it.
We then played a communist game and did Socratic Seminar.
Our question was "What efforts did the US take in stemming communism during the Truman administration". We looked at the documents in the FAT Packet about Iron Curtain, United nations, Truman Doctrine, McCarthyism, and Marshall Plan.
Homework is chapter 27 and focus questions.

Today we finished our video clips. We also looked at the homework and created a DBQ question that related to our documents. We then create a long essay outline for the question "What event of series of events was the turning point that shifted U.S. foreign policy from isolationism to interventionism in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
You had to come up with Context, thesis, arguments, and synthesis.
For homework tonight: Pages 90-96 in FAT Packet and complete page 112.

Fun today learning about the WW2 events. I have attached the timeline we did, with the lesson. It was lots of fun! Gabbie gets no more hints for the rest of the year ya'll!
Also, today we started our WW2 through media clips. I will sprinkle them along the way, next class, and the class after. Attached you will find the timeline activity we did.

Hey guys! Sorry I am getting this post up late. In class we discussed the legacy of the New Deal and did a New Deal sort. We also completed a venn diagram on Hoover vs. Roosevelt's policies. Next class Chapter 25 is due with focus questions. See below!

Hey all! Today was so so fun! Thanks for making my job easy =)
Today in class we did page 110 in our FAT Packet and the Family Budget simulation. Who won? I'll let you know next class!
My favorite part of the day was when I told you all there were yellow sticks hidden around the classroom. You all looked like a scene from Willy Wonka. Haha! Anyways, I hope you saw the connection with what we were doing and what a struggle it was during the Great Depression.
Homework: Complete a DBQ essay using the question and docs from pages 75-79. Also I am attaching the rubric here so you can use it! Try to time yourself to just 55 minutes!
Next class: Socratic Seminar over the Great Depression, including a talk about the New Deal and it's effects, and Hoover and Roosevelt's responses. Don't forget next week I am showing a movie after school TUES/THURS for extra credit.

Happy WW1 learning day!
First we completed the graphic organizers below and filled in important events that occurred. We added "Reasons for U.S. entry into the war". That was fun.
Next, we did a DBQ practice that used page 113 of your FAT packet to analyze the documents. Here were the directions:
•Turn to page 113 in your FAT Packet
•Big Question:
–Was American involvement in WW1 necessary?
•Use the Documents to answer the question. Fill out the Graphic Organizer as you go!
–Docs: 38 (Zimmerman Note), 39 (War Message), 40 (Anti-War Speech)
Make sure to do the back! Next we put you into groups of France, Britain, or America. You need to look over your briefing sheet for your country. Your goal is to UNDERSTAND what it is your country WANTS from the Treaty of Versailles. If you were not here, message me to get a country/briefing sheet.
Homework:
•Annotate and complete a “one pager” . This one pager has instructions that you will find below.

Happy Valentines Day! Hope you all had a great day!
First, we read pages 36 and 37 in FAT packet and answered the questions.
Second, we discussed the FDA, The Jungle, and the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. Watch the video below!
We had a Socratic Seminar today and here where the questions:
1. Give examples of how progressives responded to political, economic, and social concerns.
2. Which progressive president was most effective?
3. What did Progressives do for African Americans and women?
4. How does Roosevelt's New Nationalism compare to other's before or after him? Who would agree with his policy, and who wouldn't?

I was out today and you filled out pages 30 -33 in your FAT packet and read, annotate and answer the questions for 34-35. Great job!
Tonights homework is to watch and LISTEN to flipped video on Progressive Presidents. Only take notes on what you did not already take notes on from your reading. If you read and took notes correctly, there should not be a whole lot except for some things about TR and Wilson. Have a great weekend! Flipped Video Below!
February 8th - the day we learned about Taft's money train to the US =)
Today in class we went over the Imperialism notes, attached below. We also finished our charts from homework and created our own political cartoons, due next class! Chapter 21 is due next class, and it is over the Progressive Era! Think...Progress! Attached are the notes and the PPT. I will be out from 830-915 on Friday, and you will have an assignment in your FAT Packet. Come for test retakes study hall, raider nation, or after school Tuesdays and Thursdays! Keep your heads up!

Happy Monday!
Today we started Period 7 and day 1 out of 2 of Imperialism. if you didn't read your chapter, please make sure you read it, or you will be missing valuable information that will help you connect the pieces. Friendly reminder, it is virtually impossible to pass the class without actively doing your homework.
Today we went over docs on pages 7-15 in our Fat Packet and discussed whether these docs presented an anti-imperialist view or an imperialist view. We then participated in a Socratic Seminar where you had to speak from the perspective of your document. This was mainly to gain practice looking at and analyzing documents. You guys did a great job.

HOMEWORK was to complete the readings on America's involvement in different countries and fill out the chart.

Friday in class we did a Socratic Seminar over chapter 19. We read page 57 in our FAT packet, and also looked at 58 and how the Wizard of Oz correlates to Populism. The questions asked in seminar were:
1. Which approach best works in America? Laissez Faire or government regulation of business?
2. Which Gilded Age President was most effective and least effective?
3. Should high or low tariffs be instituted?
For homework, study for that DBQ in class Tuesday! it's about the Men Who Built America. Also, be working on your presidential profiles, due Thursday. Grant-McKinley. The sheet for that is attached below

Happy Wednesday! Today we discussed new vs. old immigrants, looked at some notes, added to our notes from the APUSH Gilded Age PPT (near the end) and then went over different attitudes Americans had about immigrants. In Class today we discussed the six most important steps for women's rights that was homework last night (pages 1 and 2 in your FAT Packet and pages 73 and 73). Many of you picked the 19th Amendment, the first women to run for president, equal pay for equal work, and Roe v. Wade.
We then broke down our DBQ using the graphic organizer I made for you HERE.
Fill out the DBQ Graphic organizer before completing your DBQ for homework. Send me a Remind text if you are having trouble with it. It's important to remember that we are just trying it, so do your best. Write an essay, use the docs to support your evidence. I will give you feedback!

Hey all! The snow day threw a wrench in our planning. Thank you to those of you who either A. made it to class or B. stopped by before leaving and picked up your documents. No worries to those of you who couldn't make it, it was sort of scary out there! Anyways, we only got to have half a class. If you missed, you are responsible for getting yourself caught up from what we did today AND the homework.

If you do not have them, the chapters are below, you will need to print them yourself and they do not always have vocab attached.
