Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Activity:

February 8/9 and 12/13

Sorry I wasn't able to update the past few days.

Feb 8/9

We started Period 7 by doing an Imperialism game and filling out our graphic organizer. Homework was chapter 20.

Feb 12/13

On this day we role played the different points of view of imperialism. You can check out the different views in your fat packet from pages 24-31. We filled out the graphic organizer in the back of your packet. Our main question was , "What were arguments for and against imperialism?"

Homework was to complete a political cartoon about Imperialism

Today we reviewed for Gilded Age test! Here is the powerpoint I used:

Hey all! Today we did levels of stationing. We looked at the different civil rights leaders, as well as ranked the presidents from this time period. See me for materials.

Today in class we did a Socratic Seminar over immigrants, robber barons vs. Captains of Industry, chapter 17, and chapter 18. Good job!

Happy to see all your faces =) I hope you had a great break and are ready to do great things in 2018

I will be going out of town Friday January 5- Wednesday January 10. We went over in class what you need to do, and it is in your packet. However, this website is to remind you so here are your reminders and whats coming up!

•A Day Friday January 5, 2017/B Day Monday January 8, 2018 – Homework due – 1^st part of Women's Rights notes checked by Ms. Brown

•A Day Tuesday 9, 2018/ B Day Wednesday January 10, 2018 - Homework due – 2^nd part of Women's Rights notes checked by Ms. Brown

•Thursday January 11/Friday January 12 (I return this day) – Homework Due – Read 29-32 in packet and annotate/summary.

•When I return on the 11th and 12th, we will have a summative Socratic Seminar over what you learned. This will be your first test grade this nine weeks, so get that homework done and learn something!

I also attached focus questions for the entire Period 6!

• Went over Jefferson's inauguration speech and noted these key ideas:
• –Urging the country to come together

–Criticizing less tolerant governments

–Reassuring those who didn’t vote for him

–Expressed faith in US government

–Rights and responsibilities of Americans

–Principles of governments

September 21 B Day/ September 22 A Day

Today in class we:

• HIPPed Hamilton vs. Jefferson
• Speed Dated and discussed the different roles played by Jefferson and Hamilton.
• I have moved the test to next Wed/Thurs so we can get in one more Socratic Seminar. We did not cover the Consitution, Alien and Sedition Acts or John Adams like I wanted to!
• That means test corrections for that test will be due before Fall Break.
• Homework: Presidential Profiles for John Adams and George Washington

Today in class we:

• Discussed the significance of Cabinet Battle #1
• Organized the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution
• HIPP Washington's Farewell Address and created a song

Today we:

• Watched three videos that helped us analyze the American Revolution
• Dissected the Declaration of independence and the Articles of Confederation, using a graphic organizer.
• NO HOMEWORK! However, you may want to start on Chapter 6 since you have two things to do that night!

Today in class we:

• Participated in a philosophical chair's discussion about whether the French and Indian War was a turning point for tensions between the colonists and Great Britain
• Homework: Fill out your FAT packet pages 34 and 35 from your notes. Be ready to debate!

• Wrote a summary for Serving Time in Virginia
• Looked into Patuxent Point Cemetery to see if the evidence matched what we learned.
• Looked over the article of how Dr. Ubelaker determined what the evidence meant. Here it is: Article!
• HOMEWORK:
• •In a written analysis, explain whether what you found from the primary sources in colonial Maryland supports, refutes, or modifies what you read in the secondary source

•Provide two pieces of relevant historical evidence to support your argument. (one from Serving and one from primary source)

Today we took our summer reading test, and it was AWESOME. You all really stepped up and worked super hard! If you want to retake, come see me during 3B, PLT Tuesdays, or after school Tues/Thurs.

No homework tonight, since you worked so hard getting ready for this test. But- be ready for homework next time. We will be using our book soon. Please bring back your signed video permission!
